I can confirm this. nVidia GT 520 here. Same version of system, KDE and drivers.
It happened today for the first time. I'm using Kubuntu 13.10 for a couple of weeks now but I didn't experience the problem until today. Kubuntu 13.04 + KDE 4.11 from backports PPA didn't have this problem. It seems it is triggered by multiple enables/disables of compositing. I also experience some crashes and freezes of LibreOffice that trace back to Qt libraries so it made me believe that the problem is caused by incompatibilities of Qt libraries and nVidia drivers. Now that you mention that Chrome (GTK) is also affected, I suspect that nVidia driver is the sole suspect. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1259692 Title: sometimes windows turn black To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-319-updates/+bug/1259692/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
