The clamav version is Feisty (where this bug was originally reported)
has some serious startup issues, so it makes complete sense that this is
no longer a problem. Anyone still using Feisty, I recommend enabling
feisty-backports and installing the updated clamav and dansguardian
there. That shoul
this problem seems to be gone in hardy. Therefore, I suggest to close
the bug. Can anybody confirm?

Some problem here (ubuntu 7.04)
with virusengine=clamav it takes nearly 1 minute before starting (and going in
background)
if virusscan = off it start in few seconds
clamdscan would be better but the problem isn't only permission; ubuntu
diff file read:
+ I included Aecio F. Neto antiviruspatc
Opps... I also wanted to make it clear that 'clamdscan' does not work in
7.04... it may have something to do with permissions, which could get
tricky as clamd could be working with amavisd-new scanning email.

I have the same problem. At the same time I believe there is a bug in 7.04
because it would be better to set
virusengine = 'clamdscan' instead of 'clamav'... especially on a server acting
as a content filter.
