Status
They can be chosen at build time. I think the only difference is
libappindicator.
We don't create a different tarball for Ubuntu...that is just a tarball
that is auto-generated by Launchpad in our PPA.

Such Ubuntu-specific dependencies can be enabled at build time, so
there's no actual need to release distro-specific versions.

It is a very bad idea to release tarballs specific to distributions. Can
you explain which "Ubuntu specific libraries" you utilize and why they
can't be chosen at build time?
