Here is another sample app that uses the Alarm API to save the alarm.
You can find it at https://code.launchpad.net/~nik90/ubuntu-clock-
app/alarmtest. This sample app works fine on the desktop however when
you run it on the nexus 4, the alarm saved is not listed. It outputs the
