I have the similar issue on Ubuntu Studio 14.04. The difference is that
Parole do find a plugin when doing the search, begin to install it, but
then it just loops back to the "Additional software is required" box.

The good news is that parole 0.6.0 has been released and it defaults to
gstreamer1.0. I hope it makes it into Debian and/or Trusty before
release.
