glance. I'm glad to read that you've got it working again, although it
required a full reinstall. In the future, please do attach the
information as separate files, that keeps the bug tracking system
consistently organised.

At first I created all the required seperated files. But when I tried to
attach them, I saw that I can attach only a single file (come to think of
it, I could have used a TAR file).

I think I managed to solve it though I have no idea why this works.
I reinstalled UBUNTU. This time, when I installed all the updates, I
de-selected all the kernel updates (everything which starts with linux
There were 5 of these.
After that I installed all the remaining 5 updates.
