I'm still seeing it. Furthermore I'm seeing the indicator in my Unity 7
session. In the Unity 7 session this indicator should not be running at
all, should it?

This looks suspiciously like a Notify OSD fallback alert. indicator-
network shouldn't put up a notification of any sort when you select a
network; it should immediately try connecting to the network.
