Tested with Tamil keyboard layout on scim in the latest Hardy version of
OO.o writer with Java enabled (Icedtea). Works for me.
Can you please test again with the latest packages from Hardy?

Hi,
I was getting this problem on ubuntu oo packages. Disabling java was
the workaround for me. U can try enabling that and perhaps replicate.
