I don't have access to a hi-dpi display, so I can't test this on my own.
Out of curiosity, does Chromium display pages crisply, or does it look
like Geary?

I'm using the latest from the yorba-daily-builds ppa on Ubuntu 14.04. I
took a screenshot but for some reason all the text looks a little
blurred in the screenshot. In reality the text in Gtk widgets looks
super crisp but the email body which I believe is powered by webkit
looks smudgy or blurred.
What version of Geary and WebKitGTK are you using? Can you attach a
screenshot showing the problem?
