Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince
Hi, I updated my gutsy/AMD64 install around the end of June, and suddenly incurred a lot of PDF problems. One problem that remains is that evince can no longer view PDF files created by latex. What happens is that the entire page of document text now display in the upper left quarter of the screen, while the rest is blank. On the other hand, images display correctly. If I zoom in, then the images get larger, but the text does not. Additionally, math text works OK (e.g. math fonts, math symbols). The PDF documents display correctly in acroread (on another machine) or in xpdf (on this machine). But Evince displays the test incorrectly. Interestingly, in the preview images, the text is actually slightly too large. Also, anti-aliasing is messed up. Here is a summary of the fonts in the PDF: $ pdffonts consensus.pdf name type emb sub uni object ID ------------------------------------ ----------------- --- --- --- --------- TIUDDZ+CMMI10 Type 1 yes yes no 4 0 JYSBWT+CMMI7 Type 1 yes yes no 5 0 [none] Type 3 yes no no 6 0 [none] Type 3 yes no no 7 0 [none] Type 3 yes no no 8 0 CJXBAP+CMR7 Type 1 yes yes no 9 0 YCWPNB+CMR10 Type 1 yes yes no 10 0 [none] Type 3 yes no no 11 0 QEYZCV+CMSY10 Type 1 yes yes no 12 0 SQXHJW+CMEX10 Type 1 yes yes no 13 0 TXTWAN+CMSY7 Type 1 yes yes no 14 0 [none] Type 3 yes no no 15 0 VYFRMQ+CMMI5 Type 1 yes yes no 20 0 [none] Type 3 yes no no 24 0 MFBBLL+MSAM10 Type 1 yes yes no 28 0 QLJYPH+CMR5 Type 1 yes yes no 32 0 [none] Type 3 yes no no 33 0 FVMOCW+CMR8 Type 1 yes yes no 34 0 NKJFMJ+CMMI8 Type 1 yes yes no 35 0 OZTRWI+CMSY8 Type 1 yes yes no 36 0 XECFPP+CMR6 Type 1 yes yes no 37 0 [none] Type 3 yes no no 38 0 HHRFBT+CMMI6 Type 1 yes yes no 39 0 [none] Type 3 yes no no 56 0 Looking forward to being able to view LaTeX presentations in LyX again! thanks! -BenRI ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Evince is broken display latex in PDFs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/128807 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
