Just a guess, but have you tried setting the audio interface to different
sample rates? I have at least one audio device that can be set to a number

i would not agree this bug is a duplicate of the other bug as there is
sound but it's totally crappy sound;
anyway 3.10.34 (and it does install fine under 14.04) is the way to go
to get a clean hdmi sound,

I also find out that last kernel working properly is 3.10.33 then
something changed from kernel 3.11 and the audio start to have problems!
