Just a note that I've opened a task against the actively developed
kernel. However, against linux-source-2.6.22 this bug is being closed
as it does not meet the criteria for a stable release update. You can
learn more about the stable release update process at

The Hardy Heron kernel was recently uploaded for testing. We'd really
appreciate it if you could try testing with this newer kernel and verify
if this issue still exists. Unfortunately, the Hardy Heron Alpha1
LiveCD was released with the older 2.6.22 kernel. You'll have to
manually install the n

I've done some digging and it appears my HDD is very close to some that
are blacklisted for NCQ in drivers/ata/libata-core.c.
The relevant section is:
/* Devices where NCQ should be avoided */
/* NCQ is slow */
{ "WDC WD740ADFD-00", NULL, ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ },
I took this picture today which displays the errors on vt. Please
excuse the picture as the screen has an anti-glare coating which
reflects light instead of absorbing it, ie it becomes a mirror.

in both x86 gutsy RC ubuntu and kubuntu and in amd64 RC bit both ubuntu and
kubuntu. For some reason either the sata interface or the scsi interface is
not reinitialized and it does not start up the drive because the line
Please have a look at bug #138348 and bug #139079. I think it is the
same problem and has been fixed in the latest kernel package upload.

I have wiped my system and installed gutsy tribe 5 with all updates and
it still does the same thing. I would really appreciate it if someone
takes a look at this. This is the only thing that is not supported on
this laptop, even the built-in camera is supported. I love it if
someone can fix it.
