Monospace is not an own font; it's not a font that exists. It's a gtk
alias for whatever the system's monospace font is set as, and from your
last comment, that should be Ubuntu Mono. (the 9 in Monospace 9 makes
it so you don't end up with a 13px font eating your irc window.) IF the

So it is an integration issue.
It ought use the default system/user preference font instead of overriding with
an own font.
It should lookup the font from gsettings/dconf and use whatever is set there.
