Yes, sorry, I've removed kubuntu-desktop along with some unneeded
packages like plymouth theme. I`ll try to recreate it myself. I have
dpkg selections dump taken some time before upgrading, attaching it.
Maybe it's ubuntu-sdk's fault.

I've tried recreating this with a default kubuntu install and upgrading
from Saucy to Trusty. Here is the list of packages what would be
installed during the upgrade.
Install: apparmor apt-transport-https baloo bash-completion
ca-certificates-java command-not-found command-not-found-data
cu
Unfortunately, I have /var/log in tmpfs. But I'm sure the result is
easily reproducible in VM.
