Public bug reported: >From another, less public, bug:
Text by Bill Schmidt: A GCC bug was found in the little endian vector API that affects use of the vec_mergeh and vec_mergel interfaces when VSX is enabled (this is the default for Power8). These interfaces produce the wrong results for 4x32 vector types (vector int of either signedness, vector float). The upstream patch fixes this issue. (bug internally reported by Thierry Fauck; fixed upstream by Bill Schmidt.)
