I was running a dist-upgrade on a machine that ran out of disk space
midway through. After terminating the update processes, I'm seeing the
same errors. install -f didn't help. I will now try to manually delete
the downloaded packages as you have...

my upgrade to 14.04 went havock due to lack of diskspace.
After cleaning up, 14.04 somewhat works, but not al packages are installed.

After removing /lib/modules/3.13.0-24-generic/updates by hand,
installation works:
