The problem seems to have corrected itself with a reboot. I shall mark this as invalid.
Just for information, even when I ran pasuspender I couldn't start jack, but the error messages in that case said the sound device was being used by freedesktop.org rather than pulseaudio. It may just have been coincidence that the problem occured after the distribution upgrade. ** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1312607 Title: Cannot launch jackd while pulseaudio running since upgrade to Trusty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1312607/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
