Public bug reported: Downloaded 14.04 onto a CD to do a clean install. I tested the live CD, but it failed to get beyond the Ubuntu splash screen. I then removed the AMD RV710 graphic card (Radeon HD 4550) and tried the live CD again. It booted into Ubuntu 14.04. Ubuntu 14.04 appeared to function correctly upon testing.
I then did a clean install of 14.04 and it appeared to succeed. As I customized the installation, the computer became evermore unresponsive. Eventually it froze. After experimenting for a while, I decided to simply do a clean re-install. In this case, Ubuntu 14.04 simply gave me an error message that the install "failed". I doubt that any error report was sent. But it may have been sent. At that point, I did a clean install of Ubuntu 13.10. Everything went will with 13.10. The implication is that there must be something wrong with 14.04. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete ** Tags: 14.04 amd athlon -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1312954 Title: Installation of Ubuntu 14.04 Failed on an Ahthon 64 Dual Core To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1312954/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
