as above), while playing youtube video in Google Chrome (Mozilla Firefox
is fine on the same video).

I also have this error on my HP Compaq 6720s, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS,
linux-image-3.13.0-39-generic
When I start to watch video on youtube the screen becomes black but sound
continues to play.

Update to my comment above: that wired.com part does not affect me - no
problem browsing photos there. While watching video or playing game
screen goes completely blank, but I can still hear the sound.

Happened to me too after the latest updates (including kernel
3.13.0-37-generic (buildd@comet) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro
4.6.3-1ubuntu5) ) #64~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 24 21:39:43 UTC 2014).
Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS, on Toshiba L-300 and Chrome 38.0.2125.104.
This one happened while watching
