I can confirm this still happens on both Qt 5.3.0 and Qt 5.3.1 with the
testcase.
Could you file an upstream bug at https://bugreports.qt-project.org/ ? I
could do it otherwise, but maybe I'm not the best to explain why it
shouldn't be decoding it.

supposed to be correct, and Image's source property, in current Qt
stable / release.
