Public bug reported: I use a Thinkpad R500 on a docking station with an external screen which I can rotate 90°. When I use arandr to change output orientation of DVI-0 to "left" (as well as "inverted" and "right") the screen goes black (internal screen still works). Switching back output orientation to "normal" brings back the desktop. I have attached the output of these 4 lines (except the *.err files which were empty ):
