Turns out it was something else entirely :) I've attached the
bootinfoscript just in case there was something else interesting there.
I made the incorrect assumption that the manufacture date of 04/2014
stamped on the bottom might imply it would have a recent firmware
installed. Nope!

Oh and just an additional tidbit in case someone else comes across this
issue, the EFI partition was a handy place to put the BIOS update as the
menu displays that partition as an option to look for the the update
within Intel's Visual BIOS

[Intel NUC] Cannot boot new UEFI install with Encrypted LVM
Alright, after the install there is no sign of GRUB and the option from
the "Visual BIOS" which picks up on the UEFI capability of the LiveCD
does not show anything available on the SSD installed. Is it safe to
assume you want me to run that script after a clean UEFI based install?

happens when you do try to boot? Also please boot from the live cd and
download and run the boot info script, and attach the results for

I just did one more reinstall with the 14.04 without LVM encryption and
had the same results (thought I tested this first) and it appears to be
unrelated. I'm really at a loss as to the cause of this issue now.
