Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hplip
COPYING assigns licenses to various files, but data/firmware/* does not have any license. Since firmware does not have any source code and thus is not available in the "preferred form of modification) (as mandated by the GPL), these files should be distributed under the BSD license. This is something upstream has to explicitly change, there is nothing we can do about it ourselves (short of repackaging the tarball to throw out the firmware). ** Affects: hplip (Ubuntu) Importance: Critical Assignee: Till Kamppeter Status: Triaged ** Changed in: hplip (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Critical Assignee: (unassigned) => Till Kamppeter Status: New => Triaged -- firmware files do not have any license https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/132646 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
