I ran into the problem described at
http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/FAQ#What_about_flowed_text.3F

"If however you really need flowed text, you will have to convert it to
regular (non-flowed) text by the "Convert to text" command in the Text
menu. THIS COMMAND FULLY PRESERVES THE APPEARANCE AND FORMATTED OF YOUR
FLOWED TEXT but makes it non-flowed and SVG 1.1-compliant." (emphasys
added)

The part in uppercase is bullshit. If you chose the text and do "convert
to text", the text completely changes its positioning. For example, I
have a text centered to a certain area, and it moves to the left to an
apparently random position.

Also, if you have decided to keep the flowed text feature, it makes NO
SENSE to keep it in its current broken status which corresponds to an
obsolete version of the specs until the SVG 1.2 draft becomes final. You
should fix the implementation to conform to the current status of the
standard.
