I encounter this occasionally on 14.10 and a Thinkpad S1 Yoga. I
sometimes have to reboot three times in a row until I get a login that
makes my keyboard and/or mouse begin to function. Putting the laptop
into sleep and taking it out sometimes seems to work too. The
touchscreen always works, so I

days.]

NOTE: Virtualbox has lost the ability to access USB-devices, lsusb displays
them, but NOTHING is detected by Virtualbox (Virtualbox, Settings, USB). This
MIGHT be caused by the above.
But I'm NOT sure "linux-image-3.13.0-24-generic" has worked in this regard.
Current state: Hunting for clues.

Successful boot, Mouse and keybaord works.

the "linux-image-3.13.0-24-generic" will be back real quick. ;-)

+ pull out and reinsert several USB devices (USB HDD, Mouse, Card
reader, Keyboard - in that order).
The mouse and keyboard are not usable in this state.
