Thanks for confirming, we are seeing the same behavior. I think this is actually a bug in the rxvt package in Ubuntu and not a bug in rlwrap. The attached C program is a minimal example that queries the size of the controlling terminal in the same way that rlwrap does. Running this program in rxvt
