Public bug reported: Using ndiswrapper and bcmwl5, computer connects to network after booting, but cannot reconnect after suspend or hibernate.
HP Compaq nx6125, Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 [AirForce 54g] 802.11a/b/g PCI Express Transceiver (rev 02), ndiswrapper 1.38-1ubuntu1, knetworkmanager 0.1-0ubuntu12, network-manager 0.6.4-6ubuntu7 on kubuntu feisty withh all suggested upgrades. ndiswrapper bcmwl5 - AMBIT G (Broadcom solution) Wireless LAN driver (T60H906.00)" for XP-64BIT version 3.100.64.0. I have been using this bcmwl5 driver for a long time with various versions of Fedora and Mandriva with no problems (I think it was originally for an ACER computer) Using WPA2 encryption. After resume, KNetworkManager appears to reconnect - wpa_cli status shows COMPLETED, and after a while gkrellm shows network connected for about a second. Then the network disconnects and pops up a password dialogue. dhclient and wpa_supplicant are no longer running. Re-entering passphrase repeats the above. The system works correctly with the bcm43xx driver instead of ndiswrapper, but only at 11M. This bug has some similarities with bug #85468, so I tried the solution suggested there: iwconfig eth1 essid MYESSID mode Managed /etc/dbus-1/event.d/25NetworkManager restart but this did not help. After resume could stop NetworkManager, unload ndiswrapper and replace it with bcm43xx and KNetworkManager would automatically reconnect after I restarted NetworkManager. So I have gone back to bcm43xx, but would like the 54M speed of ndiswrapper if anyone has a solution. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Cannot re-connect using NetworkManager and ndiswrapper after resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/133963 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
