I think the general consensus is that WenQuanYi Bitmap Song is the preferred font for Chinese characters. You can try the Hardy beta desktop CD to see how it looks. If you choose to install to hard disk, better remove /etc/fonts/conf.d/63-wqy-zenhei.conf so that WenQuanYi Bitmap Song is used for
