The .desktop files are provided by the package and just collected in
app-install-data-ubuntu. So comment #2 should really be a bug about
desmume not app-install-data-ubuntu.

Just to chime in, the correct spelling of the Japanese number game is
"Sudoku", not "Sudoko".
