Public bug reported: The package ttf-dejavu-core contains only DejaVu Sans Book and Bold, DejaVu Sans Mono Book and Bold, and DejaVu Serif Book and Bold. The package ttf-dejavu-extra contains all the other fonts.
However, as mentioned on http://dejavu.sourceforge.net/, only DejaVu Sans ExtraLight, DejaVu Serif Italic and Bold Italic, and Condensed variants are experimental. There is no reason why DejaVu Sans Oblique and Bold Oblique, DejaVu Sans Mono Oblique and Bold Oblique should be out of ttf-dejavu-core. DejaVu Serif Italic and Bold Italic could also be in ttf-dejavu-core.
