This is also happening to me, 14.04 with 3.13.0-53-generic kernel.
Output from $ pacmd list-sinks attached.
I can hear sound, and the left/right channels work correctly, but any sound
that comes through is crackling/robotic. I have the FiiO E17K connected via USB.
