Hi! Having a similar USB wifi stick (edimax EW-7318USg featuring the same RT73 chipset as yours), i had also problems, but in feisty (not upgraded yet). The point is, the solution I found was to fall back to the legacy driver (rt73 instead of rt73usb, the new driver) and it works well. I dig up
