Rikard Nordin's method did not work for me: eclipse did not believe it
had subclipse installed. However when I followed the instructions at
http://subclipse.tigris.org/servlets/ProjectProcess?pageID=p4wYuA I was
able to use Eclipse's 'install new software...' option to install
subclipse version
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.
I get the same error message when starting Eclipse after having
installed eclipse-subclipse.
I wonder whether it would be possible to bring the two packages you
mention into 14.04 in order to fix this.

It works after manually installing eclipse-subclipse 1.10.3 and
libsvnclientadapter-java 1.10.3 from Ubuntu 14.10
