I was unable to reproduce this behaviour with Ubuntu 8.10 (mplayer
2:1.0-rc2-0ubuntu17).
By the way I couldn't get it either with Ubuntu 8.04 (mplayer
2:1.0-rc2-0ubuntu13).
So it probable has been solved for some time now.
