Public bug reported:

My system has a NVidia Geforce 6600GT with 128 megs of memory. After a
recent update within the last few days, my nvidia card is not being used
to it's full potential anymore.

My linux restricted drivers manager used to say NVIDIA accelerated
graphics driver (enabled/in use) and another NVIDIA driver (not sure
which one), also enabled and in/use. Ever since the update some things
are not working. I play Age of Empires 3 using Wine. Now that program
will not run. I googled the error message I got and it says that the
video driver in use has to be updated.

I then went to Applications/System Tools/SYSinfo and looked a NVIDIA /
NVidia Display Settings. I get an error message that says "You do not
appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration
file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server". My
xorg.conf file says "nvidia" for the driver.

I've also noticed that an app has appeared under System/Administration
called Screens and Graphics. It is incorrectly identifying my card as a
Geforce 6800 generic, even though my xorg.xonf says my card is a nVidia
Corporation NV43 [GeForce 6600 GT].

I am using nvidia-glx-new, because nvidia-glx causes X not to start,
nvidia-glx-legacy causes X not to start. That is 100.14.11 driver works,
but is very slow. 9639 does not work and neither does 7185.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
