This sound like a different issue to me. The original report report
talked about sound files. So vaapi is not involved. Jan, if you still
see this issue, please file a new bug report.

I'm seeing this crash under Wily and was redirected here by apport.
I could narrow the cause down to the following config option in my
~/.config/vlc/vlcrc:
avcodec-hw=vaapi_x11
If I comment out this option or set it to a another value, the crash
does not happen and playback works fine.
