Disable ctrl-t as default for moving to trash

This is a highly annoying "feature" of nautilus. I keep removing the
shortcut and it resets itself somehow and keeps coming back to annoy me.

This is an appalling bug, it is very dangerous to make it easy to
perform a destructive action without being very clear about it. There's
no reason a user should expect "ctrl-t" to move files, especially when a
clearly labeled alternative shortcut -- "delete" -- already exists.

Disable ctrl-t
The earliest reference I can find to this bug is http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156915";>bug 156915,
opened in 2004, other bugs pointing to it saying "duplicate of". One
given, but wrong, reason for closing that bug is "because "Ctrl+T"
doesn't delete, rather it moves to Trash. This oper

We actually didn't close it for that reason at all. We just closed it as
a duplicate of a much earlier reported bug.

The Gnome people have marked this bug closed invalid on the reasoning
that control-t is "reversible", but:
- It's not reversible with "undo", because you can't undo a move-to-trash.
- It's not trivially reversible, because you can't ask the trash bin to sort
things based on when-it-was-put-into-t

That's a valid point.
Anyway, I've filed a bug with GNOME too. Here's the link for the record:

We try to not divert from upstream when not required so the users
experience is consistent on GNOME between versions and distributions,
would be better to get upstream doing the change

Ok thanks, I will try reopening the one with Gnome.
No reason why it can't be disabled on our build though?

There's one bug reported upstream about it:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156915 ; sadly it was closed
as INVALID, but feel free to re open it if you think that is wrong
(which is the case). Thanks.

Hi!
Thanks for the bug report.
As you say, it seems lots of people are caught by this trick :) Even one
article was written about it [1].
This is confirmed in gnome 2.18. I don't know about gnome 2.20 which will be
released in gutsy.
But i agree this should be changed...
