Check /etc/profile to make sure that PATH is set properly, and
/etc/environment to make sure that nothing there is overwriting it. And
check your user's shell configuration (e.g. ~/.bashrc) to make sure that
you're not overwriting it for yourself.

That's odd, my $PATH variable doesn't has /usr/games in it.
echo $PATH
/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin
Could you please tell me which package is in charge of setting this
variable?, could it be because my installation CD was Kubuntu 14.10 Tech
Preview (KDE 5)?. Maybe this is a bug in some other pack

Yes, the /usr/games/0ad wrapper script depends on the pyrogenesis binary
being installed somewhere in $PATH (in the Debian/Ubuntu packages it's
installed as /usr/games/pyrogenesis); /usr/games is by default included
in non-root users' $PATH.
