I'm no longer running that environment. If you can't confirm from
anyone else,
I have since fixed this bug. My solution was to completely create a new
account on my computer, and switch over my /home/* folder. I still see
an occasional bug not related to this one I believe where the pager
dissappears as i'm switching workspaces. Attempting to add an item to
the pager fixes it
We'd like to figure out what's causing this bug for you, but we haven't
heard back from you in a while. Could you please provide the requested
information? Thanks!

Is it possible if someone can test if this exists on hardy or intrepid?
I can't reproduce in Intrepid or Hardy or Gusty. It appears ncursesw5 is

My Xubuntu 7.10 has the same problem on my Dell Latitude D600. I was
also having a missing panel issue before so i ran xfce4-panel in the
terminal. When i tried to add the pager to the bottom panel, the
xfce4-panel crashed with this error:
Could not open "Pager": pager: cannot open shared object f
i can confirm this (both panels missing after the two grey bars appear for a
second)
with the current xubuntu 7.10 desktop iso.
happens with cd boot and after installation and after 1st login. after that it
seems ok.
the machine is an mp995, 128mb, 400mhz, no network.

My Xubuntu 7.10 (all updates installed) have the same problem but only if i
login locally on the machine.
If I login remote with Xming the panel is there as it should be.
The startup screen for Xfce always say that the Panel is starting.

Jackdaw28,
you mean the pager missing from the panel or both panels missing alltogether?

I could only get this in virtualbox and break=init then touch any file under

Today's iso brings up the panels even without break init in vbox. I wonder if

I have tried it. I passed -- break=init to the kernel and came in a
shell, but in this shell i could not edit /etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc because
at this time it doesn't exist. Only when i already booted into the
system, i can go there and edit it, but then it makes no sense anymore.

This bug seems to be only on the live cd. I am currently in an installed
gutsy and there is no problem with the panel.
The file /.xsession-errors in my home directory has the same error
messages as on the live cd, but this has nothing to do with the bug.

The confirmation seems to be a different bug not related to the pager.
This is true of at least one of the "duplicates" as well. I added a
link to a bug for the panel issue under comments.

I have had the same problem as vonHalenbach. When booting from the

the pager missing issue reported here. See

I am currently on the livecd. There are indeed some error messages. I am
