Public bug reported: gutsy tribe 5 system-config-printer 0.7.73
A user must be a member of the lpadmin group to modify printer settings in system-config-printer. A member of the admin group cannot modify these settings. I am a member of admin but not lpadmin. When I modify printer settings, such as making a new printer the default printer, a window that says <Password required> opens. The window also says <Password for mark on localhost?>. When I type my password, dots appear as I type. When I click OK, the window blinks quickly and reappears, dots still in the password field. When I make myself a member of lpadmin and click OK, the change is made. I would assume that someone who can use sudo should be able to set up/modify printers? Thanks. ** Affects: system-config-printer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [gutsy tribe 5] a user with sudo privileges cannot change printer settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138776 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
