Sebastian, Typically what happens when lircd is closing upon its own, its as a client tries to connect to it. Irkick in this case would be that client attempting to connect to it. Do any other clients cause the same thing to happen too then? If you don't have any media apps configured yet, you

Ok, so on gutsy the /etc/lirc/lirc-modules-source.conf isn't necessary. So this lircd.conf that got loaded, it is the correct one for your remote right? And your loading a lirc_i2c device. Is the module loading okay? You can check dmesg and lsmod to see. -- LIRCD starts up and dies right away
