I also get occasional total system lockups - usually in FF, but the last
one just occurred at the login screen.
The final entry in the system log before I reset was the invalid
position buffer message.

I'm getting the same symptoms pretty regularly. I can't actively
reproduce it, but probably 1/2 to 1/4 of the times I use my computer it
locks up.
You can see I'm getting the LPIB message here:
