I think that this problem is related to bug 138954. It should be fixed
in the lastest version of apparmor.
Please reopen if you can provide the information I've asked.

No I didn't install apparmor-profiles from the universe before updating.
I just ran the update through update-manager and after the restart X
failed.
I then ran aptitude and it said, apparmor and apparmor-utils were
broken, but when I tried to update it was getting failed to write
errors.The same
