Your problem can also be a hardware defect on the computer side. Did you
test the printer(s) on other computers running Ubuntu? Do you also have
problems with other USB devices? If your computer dual-boots to Windows,
does the problem occur there, too?

Chris, I burned image and ran it live (wow, 15.4 beta!). No difference.
Back at work with 14.4, I've got the newest HPLIP installed and get the
same communication error as before: code 12.
Thanks if you even read this; I'm quite frustrated. Any additional help

Hey Chris,
You got me here; this is where my ignorance starts showing. I'm guessing
that I should choose an image to burn and run it live, right? There's a
bunch to choose from for 64 bit.

Thank you. This problem occurred using 14.4 after the upgrade, and the
problem appeared suddenly between printing a 2 page document. Page 1
printed fine, but page 2 failed. Since then I cannot print anything, as
this communication failure goes nowhere. I've had concerns in the past
about upgrading

confirms a device communication error (5012). I'm using Ubuntu 14.4 LTS
(upgrade) with AMD 64bit archetecture. It worked well up
