For sure this isn't a BIOS issue UX31A.218 01/31/2013 The Fn+f5 and Fn+f6 for decrease and increase brightness work but only from 10 to 9 decreasing and get stuck at 9. Then increasing works from 9 to 10 and gets stuck at 10. Also Fn+f7 works to toggle the backlight on and off. With xev I get
