Public bug reported:

on Macbook Pro 8.2 (Early 2011 15"), and maybe some other models,
if you will try to launch 14.10 Ubuntu LiveCD "as usual", you will be stuck at

"Booting in insecure mode i8042: No controller found" message

(but this error message is not pointing to a particular problem which
hangs a booting process --- because the same error message could be
found at dmesg of successful booting with nomodeset option. it looks
like the boot-breaking problem happens a bit later)

Workaround is to edit the booting option by adding "nomodeset", but such
a step could be unobvious to unexperienced users. Ideally, if nomodeset
option is really required for booting some computers, GRUB2 should
autodetect if nomodeset should be automatically enabled for the computer
in use (at the early stage of booting) -- and user still will be able
remove nomodeset by editing the boot options

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
