I made a quick test with a 14.04 LTS startup stick. It showed almost the
same behavior. I heavily suspect a codec issue.

For me the issue was solved by changing hdmi audio output from hdmi to
analog in sound settings...

After complete re-installation of Ubunut the issue is gone. It indeed looked
like an issue with h264 decoder libs.
Please close the report.

After upgrading to Ubuntu 14.10 the problem worsened.
Both flash and HTML5 are affected the same way now (no sound, running too fast,
jerky playback).
