Title:
Screen turns black (only mouse cursor left) when rotating screen
To manage notifications
I have a problem with same symptoms with the Intel HD Graphics 5500
(Broadwell GT2) on a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 running Ubuntu 15.04.
Updating to kernel 4.0 from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
fixed screen rotation, so the issue might have been patched upstream
already.

Rotating the screen with xrandr also gives me a black screen with
working mouse cursor.
The problem goes away when I set AccelMethod to UXA (the default is
SNA), which I did by creating a file
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf with the following contents:

Current behavior: screen is still black with only mouse cursor shown
after rotating screen, but Ctrl+Alt+Fx now works, and Ctrl+Alt+F7 brings
back normal rotated screen.
