Public bug reported: The "alpha6" release is many years old (it was released 2011), and has not been supported for a long time. No modern day assets are usable in this release. MakeHuman has since had several stable releases and even changed the source code language.
In order to help transitioning to a post-jurassic version, I have now updated https://launchpad.net/makehuman with current code, as well as built functional sample debs, which are available in the same location. These debs works as intended for me, on 14.04. Thus requesting a version bump to the code which is available at the above. No compiling is needed (MakeHuman is now pure python), so making debs largely consists of putting files in the correct place in the file system hierarchy.
