Public bug reported:

EFEI (or whatever the damn thing is) is on. Tried the default partition
suggestion. Been trying many times to do a clean install on this
wretched array. Had several crashes and other mishaps. When trying with
14.04 previously I would get a dialog that says: "(XXX XXX)" literally!
